This week's topic is monkey butlers. Next week's topic is change. Weeks after that will not have suggested topics, so everyone may write about any topic h/she wishes.

Some of you have been writing poetry but not adding it to the blog, so please begin to do so. We all want to read it. I am so proud of all the poetry that has been added to the blog. Let us keep up the good work!

Cowboy Angel

Cowboy Hats and Cowboy Boots

Thats how I remember him.

Man wasn't he a hoot,

He was amazing with us kids.

He taught us his ways,

How a Cowboy should be.

Throughout his days,

He never let us worry about the little things.

He always talked about goin',

We never paid any attention.

Then we all started growin',

Into what he wanted us to be.

He told me one day,

That he was leavin'.

I sat there and I pray,

Lord please not yet I still need him.

That night it all came so fast,

The lights, sirens, and people.

It was a hard task,

Not just for me, but for the family and friends.

But what he had always taught me,

That God made a special place for him.

Now I can see,

He's standin there with God himself.

He's not like any other,

Angels we imagine with bear feet and hallows.

Which wasn't a bother,

He's that angel that doesn't quite fit in.

He's there with his wings,

And his robe.

He can even sing,

But what hes was wearing I just couldn't believe.

He always said God didn't care what he wore,

As long as he is in heaven thats just fine to him.

So right then and there through that door

Stood the Cowboy Angel in his hat and boots.

Growing Up

My mother's hands where always there.
Letting me know how much they cared.
They would clean my room and brush my teeth.
Buy me shoes to put on my feet.Practicing softball in the back yard.
Letting me know it wasn't to hard.
Doing my makeup for the big dance.
Always letting me take a chance.
All the things her hands would make.
She would always give and never take.
How talented she is in every way.
I love her more every single day.
My mother's hands have never changed.

Caffeine High

Everything's bright and shiny
Feels like you're smoking nicotene
My blood flows faster with caffeine
Once I have a can or two,of pepsi, coke or mountain dew,
Everything's bright and shiny.
But if I don't get my fix,
I'll probably throw a fit.
My blood flows faster with caffeine.
Sometimes I'm lazy.
But once chemicals come save me,
Everything is gravy.

I Love the Park

Sometimes I like to be alone, take a walk, and go to the park.
I enjoy watching the children run wild just before dark.
It never fails to amaze me the energy they have, seems they can go forever, can't say the same for their moms or their dads.
They jump, roll, yell, and scream, choose up sides to make a team.
Kickball, jumprope, and hiding-seek,
how do they find time to sneak a treat?
They're on the go until almost dark, ah yes, the kids! I love the park.

Germs

Cover your mouth!
Cover your nose!
Use a clean tissue
For all your blows!

Dear Tooth Fairy

In this pocket you will find a teensy, tiny tooth of mine
So while I sleep wheredreams are made,
Let's see if you can make a trade.

Tooth Fairy

As i lay down to go to sleep
I pull my pillow off my bed
I lay my tooth down on my sheet
Then put it back to rest my head
I try and keep one eye open
To try and sneak and peak
And catch her flying through my window
To collect one of my missing teeth
I wonder how much she will leave
And think of what i will buy
I really wnat a brand new puppy
Or maybe a bike
The next thing i know the sun is up
And i sit up in my bed
I throw my pillow in the floor
And found a bag thats small and red
I open up the bag
And dump it out in my hand
A shiny gold dollar falls out
And i run to show mom and dad
I cant wait to lose another tooth
I only have 31 more to go
At this point i will be rich
And be the coolest kid i know!

Tooth Fairy

Oh me, Oh my
What's that in the sky?
It's not a bird, it's not a plane
It's a character, one of fame

She swipes your tooth from under your head
While your sleeping soundly in your warm bed
Her tall tale legend is not one that's scary
She is famously know as the magical tooth fairy

Coffee

As I crawl out of bed and my feet hit the floor
I shower to wake, but I need something more
I fight morning traffic on my way to work
I daydream of a boss who isn't a jerk
A familiar smell tells me I'm working
Smells of my morning coffee perking

Germs

As I wash my hands at the kitchen sink
I look around and start to think
The things my hands touch everyday
It's important that I wash germs away
Door knobs, handshakes, and people coughing
Remind me daily of the importance of washing

growing up

Barely tall enough, I’m peering over the counter.
Mama’s making dinner; I wanted to be just like her.
Splashing in the pool, every color so alive,
The sun’s kissing my skin, giving every moment a chance to survive.

Wearing my new dress, my hair is combed all neat.
Watching Johnny at his desk, but he doesn’t notice me.
Girlfriends giggle, talking about boys.
They never seem to notice anything else but their toys.

Daddy needs my help; I’m old enough now,
A teenager feels important when responsibility is established somehow.
Mama ask me to watch over the babies when she runs to the store,
I yell out we will be fine as she walks out the door.

Looking back over the years, change was always going to happen.
Mama watched us grow up without us even noticing.
Barely tall enough, my baby girl is peering over the counter,
I’m making dinner and I want to be just like her.
