I step onto the sidewalk and let my journey begin,
Instantly my hair becomes tousled in the wind.
I slip my hands in my pockets, searching for heat,
The late autumn chill will not be my defeat.
Walking along, my thoughts search for him
I remember the first time I saw his grin.
His gorgeous curls, and bold eyes of deep blue,
Like a perfect angel for me to hold onto.
I glance to my left, at the playground full of grace,
My memories of him send a smile to my face.
The sound of laughter trickles out full of happiness and glee,
I push myself to walk ahead; it won’t be long until it is three!
I walk amongst the most brilliant autumn you have ever seen,
Deep red, orange and gold leaves shatter endlessly from the trees.
I think of the curiousness he will feel,
When we walk up to Mass Mountain of delight and appeal!
I temporarily leave the park, as three is near,
I wait impatiently to surprise my wonderful little dear.
Full of energy and excitement from his day at school,
We talk and laugh as I drive to someplace new.
In the park again, walking hand in hand,
I stop and zip up the jacket of my little man.
Around the bend, past the playground,
“Oh mom, look!” he says full of astound
He rushes the pile of leaves with color flying through the air,
With no time to waste, he jumps without care.
Laughter trickles out full of happiness and glee,
I receive an afternoon of delight, full of love and memories.
Instantly my hair becomes tousled in the wind.
I slip my hands in my pockets, searching for heat,
The late autumn chill will not be my defeat.
