First Job

Out of High School,
I was fresh.
Shoes I loved,
I worked at Payless.

Noon to close,
I cleaned the aisles.
Checking out your shoes,
All with a smile.

People were slobs,
they always left a mess.
I would clean up hundreds of shoes,
all at Payless.

I did my job with sweat on my brow,
I worked my butt off for 6.10 an hour.
But eventually I quit, as a new dream became clear.
I found a job where travel is dear!
American Airlines hired me with a salary of bliss,
but I will never forget my days working at Payless.
